Gelli Prints & Animal Chimes with Horst Arts!

Monday kids camp at Horst Arts Center involve a number of creative and educational activities that build upon each other. Students start with gelli printing, creating a library of pieces that will be used in various ways; from combining with recycled paper for wearable art and decoupaged items, moving then to a brand new junk journal. This journal will be filled with other guided activities such as shadow drawing, origami pocket creating, object collection, and sketching. Wednesdays will be held at ClayHouse Arts where the kids will learn to create a chime of their favorite animal with clay. They will form and carve an animal, then come up with a charm related to their animal (what they eat, or where they live). The following session will involve glazing their animal chime and creating a beaded hanger from which to hang.

June 20 & 27 - $140pp

Mosaics & Magnets

Artists will learn to take pottery pieces of varying colors and piece them together to form something new. They will complete a 6x6 mosaic and grout their art when complete. They will also learn to make flower and plant magnets using real plant life as well as a chance to build them from scratch.

Your child will hand build a pot and drip tray. Once they have carved and decorated their pots, the next session will involve painting with glaze and planting a new houseplant to be housed in their new pot! Our remaining time will be spent learning to make a print of a plant of their choice.
